Questions About Usernames and Passwords?
  • What is my username?
Your username in Blackboard is the same as your UA Username (this is the same username used by AuthServ). For more information about Blackboard usernames and passwords, please click here.

  • Is my Blackboard password the same as my AuthServ password?
Not necessarily. The two are completely separate computer systems, so it is possible to have a different password for each.

  • Later this year, we will be integrating Blackboard with AuthServ, after which, the answer to this question will be "yes".
  • I logged onto Blackboard yesterday, but now I can't logon. Why?
Have you bookmarked the login page (http://classes.uaf.edu/webapps/login)? Bookmarking this page will cause your first login to fail every time because your browser has not picked up the required cookie from the Blackboard home page. Instead, bookmark the home page (http://classes.uaf.edu). Also, cookies can expire, so if you leave your browser open to the Blackboard home page or login page, the cookie can expire, causing your first login attempt to fail. If you're using a lab computer or one with the browser open to either page, you may wish to refresh the page before attempting to login. This will cause the browser to request a fresh cookie.

  • I've never logged into Blackboard before. Why isn't my password working? Your initial password in Blackboard should be your UA ID (aka 30 million number) followed by a capital "U" (without the quotes). Make at least two logon attempts before assuming there is something wrong with your password or account. This will ensure you entered your username and password correctly, in case you may have made a typo the first time.

  • I entered my username and password, but the system still will not let me log in. Why?
When this happens, try logging in again. If the system refuses you after two attempts, then follow the instructions for problems logging in to set a new Blackboard password.
